Play Overview
Neva is a narrative running and jumping game about a young woman's lifelong bond with a wolf. They must work together as they embark on an adventure through a rapidly dying world in the hope of finding a new home. Like the developer's previous game, Gris, it stands out not only for the visuals and platforming but how these are put to work in service of a coherent narrative.
The game starts as Alba discovers a wolf cub orphaned by a traumatic encounter with dark forces. Together they embark on a perilous journey through a once-beautiful world, working together to make progress through the challenging traversal.
As you progress your relationship with the wolf grows and changes. Along with the narrative importance of this, the bond allows new ways of working together and helping one another navigate increasingly dangerous situations. The cub grows into an imposing adult wolf and brings with them not only help but a challenge that tests Alba’s love and commitment.
The result is a challenging platforming game that tells a story about identity, growth, trust and courage. As the cursed world threatens to overwhelm you, it's your companionship and commitment to each other that sees you through both emotionally and practically.

Age Ratings
The nature of the game is that there are substantial themes included, as well as the death of animals. Characters struggle against darkness and demon-like enemies attack the older wolf. The main character is upset by the loss - in a similar way to The Lion King. The cub is comforted at the loss of their parent. You use swords to defeat enemies, who depict pain and blood when struck. There are strong themes of loss pictured both literally and metaphorically. At one moment a bird falls to the ground and dark flowers grow from its body.
Skill Level
9+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. Still, it's important for parents and guardians to consider the maturity required to process the game content. You need to be able to explore the world, make some well-timed interactions and engage with the deeper story.
