Play Overview
Paper Ghost Stories: Third Eye Open is a creepy narrative adventure set in early 2000s Malaysia. In its paper-theatre world, you join Ting, a 5-year-old girl trying to come to terms with her supernatural powers. You play in point-and-click fashion, exploring the hand-drawn world, talking to the people you meet and solving puzzles to unravel the mystery.
After the short 7 PM instalment (available separately) Third Eye Open is the full-length next chapter of the Paper Ghost Stories series. The games stand-alone but share characters and tone. Third Eye Open tells a ghostly coming-of-age story over five years of Ting's young life as she wrestles to understand the powers that make her different to everyone else.
Play involves moving around Southeast Asia locations, talking to the people you meet and finding objects that help you progress. Some of the interactions turn into mini-puzzles you need to solve to move on or gain the information you need.
The result is a game steeped in Malaysian tradition, culture and folklore. Through the markets, elderly monks and wandering spirits of the woods threads a simple story about a young girl trying to make sense of an adult world.
