Play OverviewPlay Overview

Pip Gemwalker (2019) is a running and jumping puzzle game where you control a small mole character who needs to escape a maze to find diamonds. It's similar to Captain Toad's Treasure Tracker, where each level is small enough to fit on the screen and be rotated while you explore. This enables you to look ahead and investigate where you need to go and what you need to collect. Figuring out how to then do that with your character is then a challenge of execution.

Play involves guiding your mole through the maze-like levels. Some of this is working out which way you need to go and avoiding enemies. But also you need to solve some puzzles by fetching and carrying itemsĀ in different ways. For example, carrying tree stumps to buttons that open doors, or standing on switches to open locks. As you work through the initial 7 levels things become more complex and challenging.

The result is a game that offers an increasing level of challenge, but stays playful and low pressure throughout. It's a nice game to dip your toe in some gentle puzzle and traversal action.
