OverviewOverview

PlanetSide 2 is a free online game you play with thousands of other players online. Set in a sci-fi universe, players join factions and then fight together to win territories. These massive battles feature typical first person shooter elements such as sprinting, iron sights, and regenerating shields. As you kill enemies, heal allies and capture bases they earn experience to enhance character abilities.

You jump into one of the ongoing battles on a server and contribute to the war from one side or the other. On consoles this experience is a bit haphazard as players aren’t as organised. On PC, there is a strong community that co-ordinates attacks with hundreds of players and employs detailed strategy to take over territory on the map.

It’s unlike other shooting games as you play this role in an ongoing war with thousands of other players. This takes both the exhilaration of playing and the actual combat in a different direction. The complexity and scope of the game does make it a bit overwhelming at first, but given time the tactics and strategy starts to make more sense.
