Play Overview
Prince of Persia (1989) is a long-standing game series dating back to the early 90s. The games all feature the titular prince who must escape a maze of platform-based levels. The game first impressed with its unusually fluid movement and life-like animation. This focus on climbing and realistic interaction with the architecture of each level continued throughout the series.
The original trilogy:
The Sands of Time series:
This more recent trilogy was played in the third-person and revolved around your running, jumping and climbing abilities. There were also encounters with enemies played out as fights. The novel aspect of the game was being able to rewind time if the Prince made a mistake or to freeze enemies.
Prince of Persia has had a range of other games in the series since then, most notably a reboot of the idea in 2008 where he relied on a female companion to progress.
