Play Overview
Raptor Boyfriend: A High School Romance (2021) is a narrative game set in the final year of a high school for mythological creatures looking for love. You play Stella, who must find her place in the school as she talks to peers and decides who to date. It sounds peculiar but does a brilliant job of conjuring a high school rom-com from the unusual setting with a well-written narrative and branching storylines.
Stella has moved to the secretive town of Ladle and starts the local high school. However, it's populated with unusual classmates: a velociraptor, a fairy, and a bigfoot to name a few. As you play, you make choices about who to befriend, have sleepovers with, and date, and the story changes depending on these choices.
The game is primarily a text adventure, with you selecting different responses and text-based choices. There are also several point-and-click sections where you need to find, select and use different objects, such as a phone or a chest of drawers.
The result is a unique take on the dating sim genre that offers a unique branching story with heartfelt moments and colourful characters to get to know that serves as a fun and imaginative interactive story.
