Rhino Hero (2012) is an action game where players use cards to build a vertical tower. The aim is to place all your cards without knocking the tower down. What starts as a fun and tactile challenge quickly turns into a battle of nerves, as you place cards that destabilise the tower for the next player.

Play involves placing wall cards to build the tower. With each turn, you place vertical walls and one-floor card on top. Each floor card specifies the pattern of the wall cards the next player must match. They can also include actions like skipping your go and moving the Rhino Hero figure up the tower.

As you play, the tower grows and the challenge of placing cards becomes more difficult. There are a variety of ways to make moves more complex for your opponents and the real skill becomes balancing your own risk with setting a challenge for the players that come after you.

What makes this game so enjoyable is the mix of tension, competitiveness and the desire to see the tower grow to new heights.

There are two other versions of this game:

• Rhino Hero Super Battle: Involves extra character pieces and a battling element that enables players to compete for space on a more complex tower structure.
• Rhino Hero Junior: A simplified version with sturdier cards and easier stacking.
