Play OverviewPlay Overview

Riptide GP: Renegade (2011) is a fast-paced racing game set in the underground hydro-jet racing scene. It takes extreme jet-ski action in a wacky direction, but there's a significant skill in manoeuvring your vehicle through tight twists and turns to achieve air time for stunts. It combines the thrill of high-speed racing with snowboarding-style ramps and tricks that increase your score.

Set in an alternate reality where the streets are flooded, and the primary motorsport is the Riptide Grand Prix. You play a racer cast out of the Grand Prix and must work your way back to fame by climbing the illegal underground cups. Pursued by both the police and your competitors, you race through abandoned factories, waterways, and ruins, increasing your score by tricking off ramps and reaching the finish first.

You steer your hydro-jet through the flooded streets, gaining speed and avoiding obstacles and the police. You can use environmental ramps and jumps to get into the air and perform tricks to increase your score and grant speed boosts. As you progress race to race, score enough points and you can buy new vehicles and customise your character. Multiplayer play lets you race against friends and family, vying for pole position and seeing who can pull off the most impressive tricks.

Previous games in the series offer similar gameplay, but with different races, hydrojets, and cosmetics:
  • Riptide GP (2011) Android, iOS, PC and Amazon Fire.
  • Riptide GP2 (2014) Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Android, iOS, PC, Amazon Fire.
  • Riptide GP: Renegade (2016) Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Android iOS, PC, Amazon Fire and Nintendo Switch.

The result is a mix of high-octane, fast-paced races with stunts and tricks that make for a unique and entertaining game, with multiplayer that allows everyone to get involved and compete in lighthearted fun.
