OverviewOverview

Road to Guangdong is a road trip adventure game about family and travel. You drive across 1990’s Guangdong, fix your car and explore the places you pass. You play as Sunny, just after a family tragedy, travelling with Guu Ma, her aunt. They have the task of reviving the struggling family restaurant.

As the game progresses you experience the sights and sounds of Guangdong through animation and a 'zen' and meditative soundtrack whilst maintaining your old car by keeping tabs on fuel consumption, tyre wear and engine condition. You visit long-lost relatives for their blessing and in search of secrets that will bring diners flooding back to the restaurant.

The game design is minimalistic, intentionally slow and thoughtful. The game explores Chinese culture and the importance of family and of community.
