OverviewOverview

Skye Tales is a gentle puzzle game about exploring rich playgrounds as a dragon called Skye. Play involves traversing each chapter, meeting and interacting with different creatures and solving puzzles along the way. It's a game that stands out not only for its picture book aesthetics but the comforting, nurturing and playful world it creates.

As you play you gently fly through the cosy valleys of Brinn and solve puzzles to help your fellow denizens. You can take things at your own pace, playing with a rainbow of tactile toys and instruments. Along the way you make friends with the creatures you meet.

The result is an unusual game that offers young players a break from demanding or draining experiences. In fact Skye Tales is part of a study working with children and adults to assess the potential mental health and wellness benefits of videogames for persons dealing with anxiety and depression.

AccessibilityAccessibility

Our Skye Tales Accessibility Report documents 34 accessibility features:
Skye Tales gradually introduces its controls, never over-burdening the player with complex combo requirements. You can use either stick or D-pad to control movement and menus.

The game provides signpost hints next to puzzles. These are always available and can be revisited as much as possible. You can disable this on the menu if you choose. The game provides a detailed list of tasks that breaks things down into multiple parts for easy tracking. The game map displays the faces of the people you need to talk to and where they are.

Items are colour coded with pulses of colour to indicate how you interact with them: grabbing is blue, signing is pink and dashing is rust colour. The game offers a high contrast mode to enable the game character and direction indicators highly visible. You can adjust the colours of these items. This also has the effect of dimming the background and making it less busy.

The game uses sounds to signpost in game items. For example, hint posts make a sound. The game also make a different sound for the Singing, Dashing and Grabbing actions as you do them successfully.

We didn’t want to produce a bland, flat gameplay experience devoid of any challenge or reward. Skye encounters gentle puzzles which wait patiently for you, are simple to interact with, and have a safety net of hints to refer to.
