Play OverviewPlay Overview

Sons of Valhalla (2024) is a strategy-based building game where you play the son of a Viking Jarl, aiming to conquer England and save the love of your life. Like Kingdom, you incrementally upgrade your fortifications, farming and armies to defend against the English.

Play involves exploring the side-on world with your character. Rather than focusing on first-hand combat, your role is to develop your village and coordinate defences. As you progress you improve your skills and strengthen your warriors for the next battle. You extend your villages to ensure a steady flow of resources and warriors. You plunder and conquer enemy villages and castles.

The result is a deceptively complex strategy game with elements of tower defence. These elements combine to make each decision critical as you work to balance resources for commerce, food and fighting. It takes the experience so well executed in Kingdoms and moves it in a more realistic and detailed direction.

Our examiner, Andy Robertson, first checked Sons of Valhalla 2 years ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated 3 weeks ago.
