Play Overview
Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator (2021) is a trading simulation game where you buy, sell, and trade organs in space. It's a fast-paced commerce game where you buy cheap and sell high. Of course, it stands out for its unsettling choice of commodity, but this is an intentionally jarring look at alien capitalism.
The game simulates the market. Each cycle the market opens and requests for particular organs come flooding in. With limited money and storage on your spaceship, the challenge is to choose wisely which transition will make you money. This trading phase is frantic and made more so by other traders competing for both organs and organ customers.
As if this wasn't already questionable enough, as you progress you descend into this cutthroat organ market. You can source organs from dubious figures. You can bribe other traders to stay away from the market for a cycle. You can flood the market with particular organs to affect the price and make a killing.
The final piece of the puzzle is the dynamic cargo hold. You must carefully place organs in your hold as they will drain of blood and boost each other if placed correctly, or explode into pieces if you get it wrong.
The result is a board-game-style challenge where you race to get the best cards. Like Hypnospace Outlaw from the same writer, it offers uniquely disturbing comedic storytelling. It never passes comment on the ethics of what is going on, but puts the commodification of humanity squarely on the table.
