OverviewOverview

Splatty’s Adventure is a running, jumping and fighting game where you play a small (4-year-old) hero who must escape an oversized bedroom and get on your way to save the world from destruction. Like stepping into a Toy Story film, but here you wield a paintbrush to attack enemies, and can stop, rewind and slow time.

Play involves running along walls, dashing between platforms, attacking enemies with your paintbrush and using your time power to solve puzzles and make the platforming easier. As you progress you discover a central hub world with huge areas branching off of it, each with their own theme.

The result is a game like Super Mario Odyssey but without the commercial edge. It feels lovingly made, and offers an imaginative adventure into a world where you are smaller than everything around you.

Although there's not difficulty setting, you can choose to Stop, Slow and Rewind control to adjust the speed of the game. Currently you can use this for 7.5 seconds (future plans are to extend this for players via a setting). There is a level timer but no time limit on a level.

There's an assist mode you can enable to guide you to your objective. You can opt to turn holds for flashlight and crouch to toggles. You need to hold L1 to access wall movement.

The game offers footprints to guide the player through the level. There are also button prompts to signpost interactions.

Turning on the flashlight also adds a glow to the character. You can also adjust brightness. There is some lightning effects but this isn't strobe-like. The game visuals have been tested to not be a barrier for colour blind players.
