Play Overview
Summer Trip Cruise (2023) is a traversal game where you guide a cruise ship on sightseeing missions. Play is like a fairground boat game where you steer left or right with the wheel/rudder and throttle. It stands out for the simple controls and forward thinking that combine to create a mission-based drifting race game.
You are the new captain of a cruise ship who must carefully (and speedily) guide his vessel through waypoints to the destination. The on-screen rudder controls are intentionally awkward in a way that forces you to process not only where you need to go but how to translate that to the available inputs.
As you progress you visit more challenging waters with currents, rocks and whirlpools. Each different country you visit has its own architectural style, environment and music. At first, the challenge is simply surviving each cruise but as you improve you can get rewards if you manage to make the perfect journey in the shortest time possible.
The result is a game equal parts calming and frustrating. You need a deft touch and savvy steering to nail each voyage. It can take lots of goes to get it right, but when you do it's really satisfying.
