Superhot is a shooting game with a twist. Time only moves forward (bullets, enemies, damage) when you move your character. This is still a violent game, in fact, in slow motion, it feels more violent.

But while the game remains a challenge to shoot enemies in the heat, the time element subverts this by introducing more ways to win and control the field of play. Playing Superhot raises all sorts of questions and interactions that other more frantic games rush past. Not only, whether seeing this violence in slow motion makes you want to put the gun/bat/fists down, but also how to prioritise tasks as you are increasingly overwhelmed.

Players need to assess their situation while time is slowed and move carefully so as to use time to their advantage. Towards the end of the game, you gain the (limited) ability to jump into enemies bodies, further extending the mind-stretching possibilities.

Along with this main game is an Endless mode, where you try and survive as long as you can with wave after wave of enemies. There's also a Challenge mode where you replay the campaign under certain constraints, such as limited time or weapons.
  • Superhot: Mind Control Delete adds levels that are procedurally generated and if you die you go back to the beginning.
  • Superhot VR is a version for PlayStation VR and Oculus Quest
  • Syperhot Browser version can be played for free.

Content Rating

Rated PEGI 12 for moderate violence towards fantasy characters. The game involves shooting, punching and slicing a large number of fantasy characters: red human shapes with a multi-faceted appearance, as though they are made of glass. There is realistic violence towards them: when you shoot a character in the head, its head will explode into pieces; or, using a katana, you can decapitate and bisect the characters.

Skill Rating

11-16 year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. Still, it's important for parents and guardians to consider the maturity required to process the game content.
