Play Overview
The Cub (2024) is a retro running and jumping game where you play a small child in the same post-environmental disaster as Highwater and Golf Wasteland. It's like playing a classic console platform game but with modern parkour movement and puzzles to bring it up to date.
Play involves working through side-on levels, avoiding dangers and making tight jumps. As you progress through the world you discover the remains of humanity and the need to survive after others have left the planet.
You must outwit evolved wildlife and dangerous hybrid flora. There are environmental puzzles to solve. And all the time you need to stay one step ahead of the people who have returned to the planet to hunt you down for your immunity.
The story and clues of how and why humanity fell are strewn throughout the world. Crumbling brutalist tower blocks and abandoned genetics labs. Depleted chemical mines and overgrown battlefields. Each level has a story to tell.
Accompanying you on the journey is Radio Nostalgia From Mars which offers thought-provoking survivor stories from the few ultra-rich living on Mars, while a smooth-voiced radio DJ keeps the show moving with a collection of chill apocalypse-wave tunes.
