OverviewOverview

The Kingdom of Istyald is a text adventure that takes you on a strange journey while also introducing Fantasy as a literary genre. As you play you not only meet fantastic creatures but meet its main tropes: Elves, Dwarves, Warlocks, Dragons. Whether allies or enemies, you’ll have to use observation more than sword and shield.

You play as a powerful witch, The Guide, and soon discover the strange world of The Kingdom of Istyald. Istyald is a great tree of knowledge, but it is threatened by dark forces try to destroy it and seize control of the world. Through questioning, exploration, fighting and careful attention it's up to you to stop the Empire of Shadows from spreading.

Your choices and interactions results in a different story each time you play, although these all lead to a common end where your choices are analysed to determine your fantasy family Humans/Elves/Dwarves/Orcs.

The game is a grand adventure in its own right but is also an introduction to a tremendous resource website about the Fantasy genre. A simple yet engaging way to enter this universe, masterfully illustrated by the work of Anato Finnstark.

You play it in a browser, on PC, iOS or Android.
