The Last of Us is a survival adventure game where you play Joel, a father figure, looking to protect a girl in his care, Ellie. The game creates a fimlic and emotional experience that extends beyond the usual zombie shooting to offer an interactive experience concerned with parenting, care and the cost of survival and protection of children in our care.

Left Behind is a set of substantial additional chapters that flesh out the story of the first Last of Us game. We get to play as Ellie as a younger child, learning about her fears, relationships and the events leading up to her meeting Joel. We also get to see more of the period in the game where Joel is hurt and needs Ellie's care.

Although easy to overlook, as this is seen as simple additional content by many, Left Behind is actually a compelling experience in its own right. It's important that you have played the first game, but when you have, Left Behind offers important parts of the story that shed new light on the main characters.
