Play Overview
The Settlings is a strategy management game where you give your tiny workforce tasks to create an ecosystem of production. Taking elements from the classic Lemmings and Settlers game, your challenge is to set up automated networks of workers to gather, deliver, build and fight.
Unlike the frantic stress of other unstoppable planning games like Lemmings, the play here can be at your pace and offers a more relaxed experience. Play involves giving your flow of characters different tasks. For example, you need some Axe people to chip trees for wood, or Builder people to make houses. In this way, you slowly develop the things you need for your settlement.
As you progress you can expand the city, automate production chains and craft new tools and weapons. Much of the fun here is discovering how the different roles work with each other and result in unexpected outcomes. As well as giving your characters roles you can also direct them to build specific aspects of your settlement - ladders, lifts and the like.
The result is a strategy game in miniature. It's not just that the visuals are small, but the ecosystems can be seen all at once which makes it easier to plan and manage what's going on. There are various challenges on each level, but the main fun here is watching your world slowly unfold, one tiny workman at a time.
