Play Overview
Tinyfolks (2022) is an action role-play game boiled down to its basics. You hire a party and set out on an adventure, taking on enemies in turn based on battle with enemies as you go. It stands out for combining retro graphics with a surprising amount of depth and character development.
The town needs you to lead your band of heroic folk to defeat the evil Sorcerer. It played like the popular Darkest Dungeon game although with greatly simplified visuals. Through 13 different geographical areas, you take on over 70 different types of monsters, and (hopefully) return with equipment ad treasure to help your next run.
As you progress you train your team of heroes, upgrade your town and battle monsters. You soon discover there is a wide range of character classes each with unique stats and abilities, and loads of weapons and artefacts to collect. Along with developing your character, you can also upgrade your town to expand the options for your heroes.
The result is a hard-core dungeon adventure with retro visuals that make the experience more approachable. It's a challenge to balance your party for the challenge ahead. Get it wrong and you will die (you will die a lot either way). But slowly you upgrade your team and have an incrementally better chance of survival.
