OverviewOverview

Toem is a small adventure about helping people. You play a small figure travelling through black and white, hand drawn, scandinavian-style landscapes. As you encounter characters and architectural environments you hear about the problems people have and can help them out.

One of the main interactions is taking photos which uncovers more information about each location and fills your photo book. You can also go fishing, listen to calm music, travel by bus, climb mountains.

It’s a game “which encourages you to stop and smell the flowers", say the developers. The combination of the simple aesthetic and the need to take your time listening to what people say, promise to make this not only relaxing, but satisfying way to while away some hours.

AccessibilityAccessibility

Our Toem Accessibility Report documents 27 accessibility features:
You can adjust how fast the game world rotates when you press a button. You can also get it to automatically rotate after 20 seconds which can be a useful way to see hidden items without using the additional rotate buttons.

You can select between direct control of your character via a game-pad or point-and-click control with a cursor (can't use touchscreen)or mouse. In point-and-click you can also control with a cursor, specify the speed and (aim-assist) snap to items in the world.

You can zoom right into the world to make it (and the characters and items in it) really big. It's also black and white so has a high contrast appearance. Text is generally good and high contrast although the System menu does have dark grey text on a (darker) grey background until you select the text when it turns white and becomes easier to see.
