Play Overview
Traffic Jams (2021) is a puzzle party game where you direct traffic in VR using just hand gestures. It looks like a Pixar movie when you put the headset on, but the fun here is controlling the chaos (or often not controlling it). Along with the single-player where the game provides the traffic, the multiplayer mode has up to four friends generating the traffic to hit different objectives.
Playing Traffic Jams involves controlling individual pedestrians, cars, mopeds, trains and buses. You do this not by pressing buttons but by pointing with one hand to identify who you are directing and then a hand gesture with the other to specify whether they should stop, start or hurry up.
Things start simply with just a couple of intersecting streets, but as you progress more streets, traffic and hazards are introduced. To do well on any of the levels you must keep the traffic flowing otherwise it will get impatient and lose you points.
One of the best parts of the game, and unusual for VR experiences, is the multiplayer mode where you work together to score points. One person has the VR headset on and the others provide different traffic and hazards by tapping different icons on a smartphone app.
The result is a globe-hopping crazy game of traffic management. It's easy to get started, and there are plenty of reasons to replay each level. Not only the long list of achievements by the 3 varieties of the five maps: Daytime, Rush Hour, Nighttime.
