Play Overview
Tres-Bashers (2021) is a running jumping and ghost-batting game. You play a ghost busting mouse on a mission to find and dispatch ghouls. The retro visuals are designed to look like a Game Boy game and adds to the nostalgic action.
Play involves exploring each area by jumping on platforms. Your flashlight is used to reveal ghosts hiding in the halls. Your baseball bat is used hit the ghosts into oblivion once they are revealed.
This starts with simple one-hit enemies but soon gets more complex as tougher multiple target foes appear. As you deal with them you gain coins or keys that grant you access to new areas. In this way you explore and clean up different locations, starting in a local high school teeming with manifesting spirits.
As you progress you not only find new areas, but also gain upgrades that enable you to access new classrooms and hidden passageways, like is familiar in Metroid games. You can use the coins you've collect to buy items occasionally as well.
The result is a really unusual ghost hunting challenge that's full of sentimental retro fun. With 40 different monsters (including jersey devils, mothmen, yetis, apparitions and cassowaries), lots of upgrades (back flip, wall climb, and double jumps) and 7 challenging bosses there is a lot to do here.
Our examiner, Andy Robertson, first checked Tres-Bashers 2 years ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated 2 years ago.
