Play Overview
Trifox (2022) is a shooting game where one stick controls your movement and the other controls the aiming. You traverse through the levels, defeating hordes of enemies with a variety of different skills and weapons. While the controls are simple, mastering them is essential and requires lots of skill and persistence.
You play as the titular Trifox as you brawl with waves of enemies and dash through chaotic and challenging platforming sections where you’re chased by a variety of deadly machinery. Although it’s fast-paced and frenetic, there is also a great deal of strategy involved, as you customise your character with an array of abilities and weapons from three different classes; engineer, mage and warrior, which allow you to approach the game from different angles.
Each of these classes has its strengths and weaknesses; for example, the mage can shoot magic bolts, and the warrior wields a massive hammer with greater damage but a shorter range. You can also mix and match your abilities with a combination of two or more classes for a more personal challenge. Depending on what class you pick, you are also presented with different movement options; the engineer, for example, can use his backpack to fly for short distances.
It's a unique blend of twin-stick shooter and platformer, that puts you in control of what abilities you have, and allows you to approach the game's many challenges in a multitude of ways.
