Play OverviewPlay Overview

Unusual Findings (2022) is a point-and-click adventure set in a Speilberg-Esque 1980s where three friends uncover mysteries in their hometown. You play by investigating each area, finding items and talking to people, but unusually this is a point-and-click game where your decisions change the story and ending.

It's the 80s and the Christmas is coming, Vinny, Nick and Tony are trying to decrypt a pay-per-view adult channel when they pick up the distress signal of an alien spaceship. Things go from strange to creepy when they realise the alien is killing very specific members of their community.

You explore each scene to move the story forwards. Each area is full of pop culture nostalgia of the era. You investigate the Video Buster Store, play games at the Laser Llamas Arcades, learn new tricks at The Emerald Sword comic store and even talk to the punk-looking Lost Boys at their hideout.

As you progress you soon realise your decisions matter. How the three friends interact with each other affects their friendship and the wider narrative, changing the way they solve the game puzzles, the locations they visit and the answers they find.

The result is a game that achieves its desire to be an ode to 80s classics The Goonies, The Explorers, Monster Squad, The Lost Boys, They Live, Terminator, and even Aliens. But more than that, it tells a compelling story about three friends dealing with things the way three friends of this era always had to - with radical synthesizer music in the background, their wits and tongue-in-cheek humour.
