Play OverviewPlay Overview

Voidtrain (2021) is a shooting strategy game where you build a futuristic train to explore a post-apocalyptic Void with floating islands and aliens all about you. You gather resources to strategically build new carriages that help you fend off soldiers and bizarre creatures that attack you. It's a strange idea that works well by incentivising the creation of your locomotive base of operations that, unlike other strategy games, can come with you as you explore.

You are thrust into the Void, a strange, space-like place where debris from buildings floats through the air that's full of flying creatures. You are a lone engineer who starts with just a small handcar on tracks that stretch ahead of you. Using the resources you find, you eke out an existence by building engines and new carriages for your train, turning it into an impressive base of operations for your exploration and adventures into the Void.

Play revolves around exploring the randomly-generated islands to scavenge materials and items for crafting gear and weapons. On the larger islands and big depots, where the most valuable materials and resources are found, there are hostile soldiers and monsters that you must defeat using guns and other long-range weapons.

The result is a strangely appealing take on the survival base-building game where your base moves along with you, letting you explore further afield through the ever-changing world and make new and surprising discoveries in each new area.
