OverviewOverview

Vokabulantis is a puppet-animated running and jumping game about two children, Karla and Kurt, who have fallen in love. Just as they find each other though, the world starts falling apart and they discover they can’t speak to each other because their mouths have gone. They set out to save the world and express their love.

As you explore the world you switch control between the two characters. You push and pull the world around, move platforms and solve puzzles to find a way forward. It's familiar territory in terms of platform games, but the combination of the emotive (and slightly scary) story with the beautiful hand made puppet visuals make this a fascinating experience.

The directness of the metaphor may seem a little on the nose, but the game intelligently extends this with interactions that underline the tension between the characters. Their obvious connection and their (at times heartbreaking) ability to express it.
