Play involves flying your dragon in and out of the weave of the world to create patterns and fill gaps. As you stitch and cut your way through the textile landscape you wrap enemies up and solve puzzles that open new ways forward. This uses the mechanics of weaving to make these puzzles. You need to consider what sort of fabric you will use as well as weaving over and under the world to complete a pattern.
You can customise your character as well as the fabric you use to weave in the world. As you progress further you can earn mystic embroideries to further enhance your weaving abilities. You meet characters along the way who can also help
Along with the main story, there's also a Playground mode where you can spend as much time as you like weaving patterns and creating digital embroidery.
7+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. Younger players need to be able to explore the world, read clues and spot ways to weave their fabric tale into the level. The puzzle aspect of this requires some lateral thinking and ingenuity.
Assistance when stuck: The newest patch includes an optional hint system for all progression relevant puzzles and gameplay passages. The patch will be available on steam from 18.06.2021, but will take a bit longer to appear on Nintendo Switch because it needs to be approved by Nintendo. (We estimate somewhere between 2-4 additional weeks from the steam patch date)
Low Pressure: There is only one timed puzzle which is necessary for the main progression of the game (Twill challenge in desert temple). However this one puzzle automatically adjusts its difficulty lower if the player fails several times.
Gamepad: On Nintendo Switch, Weaving Tides can be played with only one Joycon.
No Flashes: While the game does not have any strobe lights there are 2-3 instances in the game where a single bright white expanding light-flash appears.
Colourblind friendly: No puzzles or combat use any specific color indicators, aside from secret stitching spots. However these also feature additional indicators like sparkle vfx. The readability of the game might not be friendly to all types of color blindness since it hasn't been extensively tested for that.
Violence: No violence options were marked since the game doesn't feature violence, apart from very light fantasy violence like mobs biting or dashing against the player without any visible bloodshed or the likes. Therefore these options don't directly apply.
Communication option: Do not apply since Weaving Tides is a single player game.
