Western 1849 is a shooting game designed to imitate light-gun games of the 90s. It's a fast shooting gallery through different western locations. The Western 1849 Reloaded version brings it to Switch where it feels at home with Joy-Con motion-aiming to target bandits and avoid shooting citizens.

Play involves popping out from cover and shooting the enemies before they shoot you. You can also opt to move between different locations with the left stick. You need to deal with reloading and can throw special items like dynamite.

As you progress you pick up perk cards that improve your firepower or offer challenges to gain benefits. You can also take on bounties for more scores and additional perks. It extends the play so that each round you are progressing your character, gaining weapons and working higher up the difficulty settings.

The result is a game where it's fun to try and get better at shooting. Repeating levels to get all headshots or chain hits together results in better perks and upgrades that in turn are fun to go back in and try again with.
