Play OverviewPlay Overview

Words with Friends (2009) is an online Scrabble game where you take turns placing tiles to make words crossword-style. Because the game is online you can play with people in different places, but also without having to be online at the same time with its asynchronous play.

The arrangement of special score multiplier spaces is different to the official Scrabble. You get seven random letters and place them on your go until all 104 tiles have been used. You take turns and can choose to swap tiles or pass.

A letter placed on a DL or TL square doubles or triples the value of that letter on all words formed using that square. Similarly, the DW and TW squares double and triple the value of the new word(s) using that square. If a player uses all seven tiles in a single play (known as a bingo in Scrabble), 35 bonus points are added - this contrasts with the 50 bonus points in Scrabble.

Words with Friends 2 adds timed lightning rounds and more ways to practice and improve. As well as the listed platforms Words With Friends is available on Facebook, Kindle Fire and Nook Tablets. On iOS, there is a chat feature built into the game.
