Play OverviewPlay Overview

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair (2019) is a side-on running and jumping game starring the characters from the 3D platform game Yooka-Laylee. You control Yooka, a male chameleon, and Laylee, a female bat and take on a level filled with collectables, power-ups and multiple hazards.

You collect feathers to unlock new levels, but in a novel twist, can take on the end-level boss as soon as you like. Waiting until completing more levels gives you more health and a better chance of surviving the big bad. Along with health, you can also collect tonics to gain new abilities.

If you beat a level you can take on its alternative state, which changes it with water, and electricity or flips them upside down. The clever design of each level to offer this multi-layered challenge and the combination of action, timing and skill needed to progress makes this a really good game to play in the family.

Our examiner, Andy Robertson, first checked Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair 3 years ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated 10 weeks ago.
