The Wasteland Franchise

This is a series of games set in the same world. The style of play and exact time period vary but they all share the same post-environmental disaster setting. As you play the different games you get to experience pieces of the story from different perspectives.

Maybe it's visiting the earth as one of the ultra-rich for a game of golf. Or maybe you're a small child surviving after everyone left. Or maybe you embark on an adventure to get to the rockets before everyone leaves. The stories are distinct but also intersect.

After the Great Ecological Catastrophe, the ultra-rich flee to Mars and leave the rest to perish. Decades pass and those on Mars venture back to Earth to do recon. At first they find recreation, but soon they discover the possibility of immunity to the disease that drove them from the planet.

As you play the games you encounter destroyed brutalist monuments, crumbling shopping malls, and abandoned museums as you piece together the full story of how humanity fell and how it might survive.

"We are dealing with wealth inequality, climate disaster, war, and the overall fall of humankind. So in order to make sure this isn’t just one giant downer for the player, we do what we can to make it a little more tongue-in-cheek. All while still making sure these topics aren’t being dismissed in any way. Rather, we’re making fun of how we as a species are reacting to these topics, not the topics themselves."
