Play OverviewPlay Overview

Book of Travels (2021) is a role-playing game. It's an unusual online game that focuses on the small rather than the massive. You explore an open world to find others to travel with, gather resources, craft items and learn abilities. It's a game that invites you to spend time in its beautiful world, not for some great heroic end, but for the simple joy of discovery and companionship.

You start each journey in the fantasy world of Braided Shore. Here you create a unique character by selecting a star sign, backstory, and personality traits. You then head off to explore the land.

Along with the friendly encounters and crafting there is some combat and more challenging moments. You gain abilities and spells by brewing tea and learning to tie knots. You can also learn an instrument in the game and gain new music to accompany you as you progress. Unlike other role-play games Book of Travels has no overarching goals, beginning, or end. You create your own adventure as you push into the varied biomes and tundra of the fantasy world.

"Bound by shared moments of wonder, we lend each other strength of mind or body. Although we sometimes wander solitary roads we are never truly alone."

Our examiner, Andy Robertson, first checked Book of Travels 2 years ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated 2 years ago.
