Card Shark (2022) is an adventure game about a French 18th century con artist. With your partner, you go from location to location swindling politicians and royals with the devious card cheat mini-games you learn. It looks like a card game, but actually it's a heist game where you trick people to win. These at-table tricks are paired with exploring the world, talking to the people you meet and getting involved in other violent misdeeds.
Play involves a combination of card playing and adventuring. You steadily cheat your way to the top of 18th-century French society. To do so means you need to master a range of deceptions with card marking, false shuffles, deck switching and false deals. This grants you money to buy your way into the closed world of high-stakes tables.
As you work your angle you discover other suspicious mysteries to solve. From small towns, remote mansions to luxurious lounges, you immerse yourself in the ornate world of 18th century high society. To get to the bottom (or top) of things you'll need cunning, intrigue and deceit.
But care is needed as you encounter politicians, petty thieves, mystics, and scammers. When is it okay to break rules and how much is too much? It's a game where you’ll need to play your opponents better than you play your cards.

Although the game is themed about gambling card game. However, you don't actually play the card games here. What you actually do is learn tricks to win and how to perform mini-games. This is why it has a lower PEGI rating (if it did teach you how to gamble it would be PEGI 18).
At the start of the game there's a warning that "This game includes profanity and depictions of suicide, death, violence and gambling. It is not suitable for children." We asked the developer about this, and whether it was tongue in cheek and they confirmed this was a serious warning. "We are actually trying to detail the mechanisms of gambling to denounce them, not to make them the core loop of the game. You will feel the real dangers of gambling through the game."
"The message at the start is mainly for the suicide scene, which happens at the scene with Aramitz, where the old musketeer refuses to tell you his story. He brandishes his sword and kills himself. It's a way for him to keep his oath to the king, to end his life with panache. It's also typically a scene where the recklessness of the Comte in pursuing the secret of the king ends in blood (although you don't see actual blood), so where we show that the consequences of cheating are more complex than getting rich."
