OverviewOverview

Demon Spore is a shooting game set in a lab with an escaped alien creature that grows organically as you play. You take on the role of a failed lab experiment that gives birth to a rapidly growing viral horror.

You use guns and other weapons to limit the creature's tentacles and spore sacks. It's unusual, and reminiscent of Carrion, because the way the creeping enemy grows and moves. The creature goes through different phases of development, from slime to spores to tentacles and egg sacks.

Play involves blasting your way out of tentacle-infested hell with twin-stick shooting style controls. As you progress the level expands to offer up more weapons but also more space for the creature to grow. You use flamethrowers, shotguns and even lasers to slow the creature (although these all have limited effect).

There are three ways to play the game. Enemy Unknown where you battle the constantly evolving and adapting life form while it (and sometimes fellow scientist) turn against you. Resourceful Carnage, where you create weaponry from old lab kit to help you escape. Survivor Team where you work to save lab personnel, who in turn craft technology to fight the organism.

Beyond the gunplay and strategy, Demon Sport creates a sense of creeping dread. The result is a survival game where you will often die (and then try again) and find a different challenge each time you play.

The game is in development, for more information you can check the developer's page.

Content Rating

This game has not yet been rated, but we anticipate it is likely to be rated PEGI 16.

It's not clear how graphic the violence is in the game as it is in early development, but the horror setting and creeping enemy suggests this will be appropriate for older teenagers.
