Play is a simple challenge of moving around and shooting enemies before they get you. It stands out for its quick, brash arcade-style play, popular in the 90s and a rarity on modern consoles.

You blast your way through waves of gangsters and other criminals in retro shooter style. Unlike other side-on beat-em-ups there is little navigation with the world. This is more like a horizontal shoot-em-up rather than brawler. It's a punishingly tough game where you have to restart a level if you die.

As you progress you learn the key to survival is both moving and shooting. You can shoot in two directions (forwards and backwards), unlock new weapons and power-ups as well as saving civilians. As you collect money you can purchase hats that introduce other visual elements into the game.

The result is a game that offers an unusual combination of big brash and silly gangster violence, but with a quaint retro style that reduces makes it feel less impactful and violent.
