Play OverviewPlay Overview

Goose Goose Duck (2021) is a strategy communication game where you work with your fellow geese while completing missions. While you do, try and spot the malicious mallards who have infiltrated your team to stop you. Then, after the task, you get to vote out players that the group thinks are suspicious. It seems like a copy of Among Us, however, its enhancements and twists (increased player count, more roles, built-in proximity chat so you can overhearing other players if you're near them) have earned it a popular following in its own right.

While the general spot-the-traitor play persists throughout, there is a range of modes that change up that challenge. This game also offers more variety in roles than Crewmate (Goose) and Imposter (Duck) that include:
  • Vulture: Consume multiple corpses but you can't kill.
  • Cannibal: Consume one corpse and can kill.
  • Dodo: Get yourself voted out.
  • Pigeon: Infect all other players to win.
  • Falcon: Be the last survivor to win, but you can't vote.
  • Gravy: Work for a secret extra bounty, but you must survive to keep it.
  • Mechanic: Can use vents for quick traversal.
  • Birdwatcher: Limited vision but you can see through walls.
  • Detective: Can interrogate another player to see if they have been killed.
  • Silencer: Choose another player and stop them from communicating for a round.

These expanded roles make the game more complicated since you won't know who to trust to vote out. Even if they are suspicious, you are less certain. In this way, the game gives rise to a much wider range of tactics than the standard Among Us format. These are further enriched with a range of modes:
  • Classic: Complete duties and avoid getting killed while figuring out who are the imposter ducks and voting them out.
  • Draft: You take turns to be the ducks and can choose between one of three roles.
  • Goosehunt: One player is the duck trying to kill everyone else before time runs out.
  • Dine and Dash: Red team of ducks tries to kill the blue team of geese before the time runs out. But the blue team can eat corpses to speed up the clock.
  • Hanging Out: A set of mini-games that are just a social lobby.

The result is a game that manages to take the Among Us formula in new and interesting directions. It doubles down on the parlour game aspect of these and leverages its proximity chat (where you can hear other players talking if they are near you in the game) to great effect.

Rated PEGI 7 for Mild violence. This game features mild violence. When cartoon ducks and geese are stabbed, their head disappears and is replaced with an undetailed stump and a bone sticking out. There is a small amount of blood on the ground. However, the visuals are cartoon-like. This game offers players the opportunity to purchase in-game items. Some parents or carers may want to be aware of this. Parents, carers or other responsible adults should check to see what is being offered before making any purchase on behalf of a child. It should be noted that the game can still be played without the need to purchase such items.

Users Interact: The game enables players to interact and communicate with each other, so may expose players to language usually associated with older rated games.

Rated 12+ on Apple App Store for Frequent/Intense Cartoon or Fantasy Violence.

The game is depicted in cartoon style and the characters are all animals rather than people. Kills are depicted in graphic cartoons. For instance, a character is exploded leaving only their feet on the floor. These can then be eaten by other players in cannibalism fashion. Chandeliers can be set up to fall on players and splat them into a pool of blood. There is also farting.

You can opt to Censored Chat which removes certain words. This only affects text chat and not voice chat. You can also opt to press a button for other people to hear you. While playing you can click the Settings menu to mute Players if they are being inappropriate or adjust their volume if they are too loud. You can opt to play the game in no-mic mode if you want to play without voice. Finally, you can choose a private match that only friends and family with the code can join.

Skill Level

9+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. Still, it’s important for parents and guardians to ensure they understand in-game purchases and have spending limits set-up. Although you could play this at a younger age, it's most fun when players understand how to trick (and not to be tricked). Having the skill to convince friends and parents of their innocence has that added irony when you know this is hard to do in real life. The additional roles require more complex social deduction than Among Us.
