Grapple Dog is a platform game where you play a pixel dog with the ability to grapple onto surfaces to swing and jump around a level. You can extend the length of the rope for a longer swing. In this way you take on puzzles, enemies and various navigational challenges.

Content Rating

Rated PEGI 3 for occasional very mild violence in a comical or abstract context. This game features mild violence involving cartoon-like fantasy creatures. Most enemies are robots, which fall apart into cogs and springs when defeated. The player's character is a dog. When he is hit, there is no visible harm or damage. Instead, the dog's health, which is represented by a paw print, loses some dots. The game features some boss fights against large mechanical monsters but they are not particularly scary and feature child-friendly designs.

Skill Rating

8+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. You need to be able to work with the swinging mechanics but young children will enjoy that.

Grapple Dog usually costs £11.99 to £12.49.

Our Grapple Dog Accessibility Report documents 32 accessibility features:
You can turn on Infinite Jumps to make traversal easier. You can turn on No Damage to make it impossible to die from enemies. However, you still need to progress through the level by making jumps and avoiding pits.

There are checkpoints every couple of minutes in the game. If you die you go back to the last checkpoint with what you had at that point. Falling in a pit doesn't send you all the way back to the previous checkpoint, but starts you back on the last safe piece of ground.

You can turn off layered backgrounds to minimise motion sickness and aid visibility. You can also opt for a single coloured background. Text is generally large and high contrast. There are a few numbers that are smaller and some descriptive text, but these aren't essential to read.

When you press a button to open a door you are provided a sound to indicate it opening and a visual arrow to lead you to it. Also, sound is generally directional in the game. When you are aiming the grapple, the targets are generous. So you only need to aim nearby to make the required contact. You get an audio confirmation when it attaches.

Holds aren't generally required, although you can hold to skip cutscenes and more quickly restart levels.

Planned for the next patch (tentatively late March 2022):
  • Viewing controls during play.
  • Full remapping keys, buttons and sticks.
