Graveyard Keeper Review
Posted: 6 months ago, last updated 4 weeks ago.
After being hit by a car you wake up in a medieval world where you are in charge of the local cemetery and church. You must manage the graveyard to the best of your abilities in the hope of gaining the magic to open the portal back to your real life.
Play is a twist on farming, where you toil your land not for a food crop but to efficiently store and settle the dead in their graves. The plot is overrun with boulders, trees, stumps, and weeds, that you clear to make space for the dead.
As you progress this work you earn money from the locals whilst also taking on missions to help with their lives - bringing them some crafted or collectable items like oil, honey etc. It soon becomes clear you can't keep up with the labour manually and you unlock new technologies to automate the processes you undertake to run the graveyard.
Three important game resources are represented by the same symbol and only differentiated by color (red, blue, and green).
While there is a game map available, the player's current location in the world is not indicated on the map.
Most tools have the option where you can either press the button rapidly or hold it down for the most efficient use, but neither is required to play the game.
The voice acting in the game is gibberish sounds and does not assist with reading.
