This sets the scene for an against-the-odds adventure through a strange landscape to find her way home. The odds are tough not only because of finding your way and solving puzzles, but by the huge number of projectiles enemies throw at you in this "bullet-hell" genre of game.
It's a dark and violent game, but one that uses these things to tell a story of the personal struggle and trauma of loss. "If there is light, there must be darkness." The game's marketing says, and it's this theme of Yin and Yang that persists throughout.
As you progress you gain new powers and spirits to combat enemies in new ways. You also uncover the cryptic (and sometimes bizarre) crumbling world and its inhabitants. If you get stuck you can freely toggle difficulty to help you move on.
