Play Overview
If Found (2020) is an interactive narrative game about searching for connection. You touch the screen to rub out and erase text and drawings. Set on December 31st 1993 in the crumbling ruins of a mansion on Achill Island, you play Kasio as she destroys her diary.
As you do this with the simple interaction you discover the story of her return home to the West of Ireland, her conflict with her family, the friends she makes, and the challenges of identity, sexuality, gender, relationships and attachment she goes through.
Although the screen-rubbing mechanic is simple, it plays into the hand-drawn minimalist aesthetic of the game to evoke emotions and connection to the story. Your erasure, although linear, means that you relive Kasio's happy and painful memories that make up the month of December 1993.
”Through expressive minimalist illustrations, ethereal sound design," wrote a reviewer for Gamespot, "sharp writing, and thematic coherence, the chaos and serenity of young adulthood jump out of its pages for a story that's heartbreaking, heartwarming and wholly affecting.”
Our examiner, Andy Robertson, first checked If Found 3 years ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated 6 months ago.
