OverviewOverview

Loot River is a puzzle fighting game where you explore labyrinths armed with the power of a relic that can shift the ground. This combines the combat with a Tetris-like tile shifting that alters the layout of each room to your advantage.

As you progress you encounter beasts, lost travellers and big bosses. To help you, you can gain new weapons and gear along with character upgrades. This double challenge, of fighting and tile sliding, can be jarring at first. With time, however, the two aspects of the game work together.

This enables you to find you own path through ancient abandoned fortress, choosing how and when to encounter the beasts. You develop your character in different ways but also learn to use the tile-sliding to affect these fights. These cosmic grottos offer a wealth of new weapons and gear to discover, as well as unholy knowledge to unearth for permanent upgrades.

Each time you play your journey is different. You can draw on other players runs, discovering their lost souls and devouring them to absorb the knowledge of their fellow travellers. It's a beautiful, hand crafted game with fluid animations with a combination of puzzles and action not found elsewhere.

AccessibilityAccessibility

Our Loot River Accessibility Report documents 33 accessibility features:
We tested the Xbox and PC versions of the game.

You can turn on an "Easy Mode" that lowers enemy damage and raises your damage. You can also dodge cancel out of any attack and you become less susceptible to being stunned when hit by enemy attacks.

The game uses vibration to indicate when you are taking damage.

There's an option to outline all enemies in a visible red outline, this ensures the game is of good contrast. There's also a setting (on by default) that automatically faces the player toward the closest enemy at all times.

Platform guides can be enabled as well which provides the player with a visual indication of where they can move the platform that they are presently standing on.

The game map shows where you have been inside of a dungeon, filling in pathways as the player progresses through the dungeon. The map also shows you the paths you have taken with a breadcrumbs-like line indicating where the player has been. The map marks the place where the player died during the previous attempt so that they may retrieve currency left on their body, akin to souls games. A mini map feature can be toggled displaying the same information as the map.

Dropped items are visible because they display as orbs and NPC with new lines of dialog will be marked with an exclamation point above their head; but beyond this there is no clear indication of what is interact-able within the environment (chests, torches, corpses). It's only when you approach that this becomes clear because a button indicator pops up.

There is an audio cue signifying when the player has levelled up. This audio cue is accompanied by a visual indication that the player has levelled up.

You can turn off blood splashes and pools, although some dismemberment remains (as this is part of the gameplay). You can also turn off how much information about enemy damage is displayed.
