11+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. Still, it's important for parents and guardians to consider the maturity required to process the game content. The play is relatively simple with rhythm challenges. You do need to be able to follow the winding narrative and character motivations to get the most from the experience.
Night in the Woods gives doesn't give you any guidance about where to go or what to do. While the journal does provide some reference for the events and information you've gained in the game, it is not organized in a clear way to make it easy to recap what you've already done.
The game has a very laid back casual flow to it, but there are mini games that sometimes include high stress gameplay with loud noises, rapid button pushing/holding, flashes, camera shake, and vibration. Only vibration can be disabled in the options menu. Doing well at these events are not necessary to progress
Soeakrn is indicated by text color
and placement of the text box, with each main character having their own text color. The lack of speaker names can make it harder to track conversations, especially if you are unable to differentiate the colors, so it may be useful to read the jounal often.
