Play Overview
Orwell's Animal Farm (2020) is an adventure game with a decent slice of strategy, all brought to life with beautiful hand-drawn storybook art. As the name suggests, the game is based on the 1945 literary classic Animal Farm by George Orwell, which uses a farm as an allegory to reflect events leading up to the Russian Revolution of 1917 and then on into the Stalinist era of the Soviet Union.
In the game, the animals have fought off their exploitative human masters and are now running the farm themselves. It's the player's job to assign tasks to the various animals, manage their resources, choose their laws, and direct their propaganda. You decide just how equal things will be for the citizens of the farm and which of the animals vying for power will rise to the top.
Orwell's Animal Farm enjoys the full endorsement of the Orwell Estate, with many characters from the book appearing, but it also presents narrative choices that allow you to expand upon Orwell’s story and spread Animalism beyond the farm you start in. New creatures can be recruited to grow the Republic of Animals and the game provides eight different endings to experience.
Whether you've read the book or not, you can now explore a genuine classic from the inside. Will you be responsible for spreading Animalism across the world?
