Sunset Overdrive (2014) is an action shooting game set in 2077 with your city under siege from toxic zombies. You traverse the open world on foot and on rails to find and fight the zombies through a series of missions. It stands out for its freedom of play and tongue-in-cheek take on the zombie apocalypse.
It all started with a contaminated energy drink that turned the transformed population into toxic mutants. For many, it's the end of the world, but for you, it’s a chance to escape your dead-end job and be the hero. You turn the world into your tactical playground by grinding, vaulting and wall-running across the city while taking down mutants with an array of unconventional weapons.
As you progress on your own or with other players you learn how to make the most of the city to outmanoeuvre enemies and quickly get around. Leap off buildings, run along walls, and grind power lines and rails to destroy your foes from every angle. You slowly build up an arsenal of weapons that combine found items like dynamite, fireworks, harpoons, and acid to destroy your enemies.
The result is a game as much about movement and fun as it is about zombies and survival. Your hyper-agility, unique weapons, and customizable abilities turn Sunset Overdrive into a big playground to explore. As you do the game embraces the silliness with its explosive and irreverent adventures.
