A cross between the high jump, jousting and basketball, Super Pole Riders is a simple game where four players must get a ball hanging from a wire to the opponent’s goal using long poles. It’s the controls that make this game so much of a giggle to play. One of the controller joysticks operates the pole while the other moves your character. This enables you to pull off batting, jumping, hurdling and whacking moves in various fashions.

The rounds start calmly, with players edging around to get the upper hand, but it usually ends in frantic shouting and hitting of buttons as they wrestle to get the characters to do what they need them to do. It’s deeply silly and a lot of fun for all ages.
