OverviewOverview

The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit is an adventure game set between Life Is Strange and Life is Strange 2. You play Chris Eriksen, a young boy who creates the superhero alter ego Captain Spirit to deal with the loss of his mother.

The story takes place in Beaver Creek, Oregon, where Chris lives with his father, Charles, who is struggling with the death of Chris' mother. When playing in the costume of his alter ego hero we can customise his abilities to be better equipped for quests like treasure hunting and exploring. As we do this and decide how to talk to players in the game, we create a branching narrative with different outcomes.

This game is rated PEGI 18 for depictions of violence towards vulnerable human-like characters, and use of sexual expletives. This game contains depictions of violence towards vulnerable human-like characters. Throughout the game you see the father get drunk and become physically and verbally abusive towards his son. Most of the physical violence is implied, such as the bruises which are visible on Chris’ arm. However, there is a pertinent scene in which the father aggressively grabs hold of his son's arm and shoves him away while shouting abuse towards him. This game also contains the use of sexual expletives. The word “*!@?*” and its derivatives can be found throughout. This game also contains a section where the player has an option to steal and smoke one of Chris’ father's cigarettes.

This game offers players the opportunity to purchase in-game items in the form of an upsell link to purchase Life is Strange 2 which some parents or carers may want to be aware of. Parents, carers or other responsible adults should check to see what is being offered before making any purchase on behalf of a child.
