Play OverviewPlay Overview

The Case of the Golden Idol (2022) is a point-and-click adventure set in the 18th century, where you attempt to solve 12 gruesome deaths. You play by investigating each scene to gather information in the form of words that you piece together to make statements to solve what happened.

You play in either Thinking (putting words together) or Exploring (collecting words). This means you can investigate more freely to solve each of the deaths. You then pick your suspect, identify the weapon, deduce the motive and unmask the awful truth.

As you progress, you start to use clues from different chapters to not only solve the individual murders but uncover how the events are connected. Soon you are working to reveal the true killers in the vast narrative by discovering their motives.

The result is a game about observation, interpretation and reconstruction of events. As you follow the journey of this cursed aristocratic family you untangle a web of deceit and villainy.

Our examiner, Jo Robertson, first checked The Case of the Golden Idol 19 months ago. It was re-examined by Andy Robertson and updated 8 weeks ago.
