Play OverviewPlay Overview

The Sexy Brutale (2017) is a time-loop adventure puzzle where you play an elderly priest who wakes up in a mansion on the day of a masquerade party. As you explore you realise its inhabitants are being killed off one by one. It stands out for the murder mystery puzzle and your ability to play the same day over and over, to slowly learn about the mansion and the movements of each character.

You wake up during a party to discover that the other guests are stuck in a 12-hour period, reliving their deaths over and over again. Your task is to figure out how to change time and save the partygoers. You hunt down clues, recipes, and items to prevent deaths. Each time you save someone they give you their mask that grants special powers and a new way to intervene in other deaths.

Play involves running around the mansion, interacting with items, hiding in furniture and listening in on conversations. Each murder is in its own location that comes with a series of pithy clues to unravel. You need to work out how to use the environment to stop deaths. Perhaps you'll put blank bullets in a gun, pick a lock, hide a lighter, switch items or call on characters to change their location.

The result is a snarky, tongue-in-cheek, murder mystery game. It's an Agatha Christie novel combined with an intricate clockwork vignette.

No injuries or gruesome details are depicted but younger audiences may find the scenes disturbing. Mild language is often heard and includes such words as ‘*!@?*’ or ‘bloody’.

Skill Level

10+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. Still, it's important for parents and guardians to consider the maturity required to process the game content. Younger players need patience and attention to detail to slowly piece together what's happening from repeatedly playing the same day of the game.
