Play Overview
Thirsty Suitors is a role play game where you play Jala, back in your home town of Timber Hills to confront mistakes, make up with exes and reconcile cultural differences with your parents. You talk to your family and old friends, take on turn-based combat, skating, and cooking. As you do you battle your exes, (inevitably) disappoint your parents and (hopefully) find yourself. It's a game about culture, relationships, family pressures, and expressing oneself.
You work through the story by speaking to people and then confronting your exe lovers in cinematic battles. You take turns to choose moves and attacks in the over-the-top combat. As you progress you gain upgrades, abilities and use the unique mood system (a little like the combat in Rainbow Billy) to take advantage of their different vulnerabilities.
The battles are complemented by skateboarding and cooking challenges. For skateboarding you skate, grind, and wall-run to pull off intricate moves and combos. For cooking you try to impress your mom and repair your relationship by making a rich menu of delicious South Asian inspired dishes.
"You've been reckless with other people's hearts for so long, it was only a matter of time before you wrecked your own," your mother says. "You *!@?* off your exes so much, they organised against you," adds your grandma.
The result is a frank and funny look at growing up, facing teenage mistakes and understanding yourself. You can hear the developers talk about
games with depth about underrepresented culture and themes.
